covid-19 go-go updates

COVID-19 + Go-Go

March 23, 2020

DC-based Go-Go Artists, bands and other creatives, you MAY be eligible for COVID-19 emergency funding from the Council of DC and/or the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities!

COUNCIL OF DC

The applications for the Council of DC’s Small Business Recovery Grants go live today, March 24th at 2 p.m., and you could potentially get help if you are a “gig economy” worker with no health benefits: https://coronavirus.dc.gov/dc-small-business-recovery-grants.

Councilman Kenyan McDuffie, D-Ward 5 and lead author of the legislation that made Go-Go the Official Music of Washington, D.C., noted that  “While many experts are conveying coronavirus warnings as though they will impact Americans equally, it is more likely that this pandemic will hit the poor, communities of color, and minority-owned businesses the hardest. So, please help spread the word to minority-owned businesses, nonprofits, and independent contractors (including artists, musicians, food delivery drivers, etc.)”

ARTS COMMISSION

At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26th, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities will hold a special meeting to address the possibility of emergency grants. See information on how to join the call here:
